eVISA scope

JAPAN eVISA for India is limited to ordinary passport holders residing in India who are traveling to Japan for tourism on a single-entry short stay of up to 90 days.

Paper visa route

For business, visiting relatives or friends, transit, and other short stays that do not fit the tourism eVISA route, Japan directs travelers to the paper visa process through the Japanese overseas establishment.

India is listed for diplomatic passport exemption on Japan's diplomatic and official passport page. Official passports are not listed under the exemption note for India.
